Dhaka:Indonesian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Muhammad Anis Matta met with Prime Minister's adviser Mahdi Amin to explore ways to simplify visa and travel procedures and enhance bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Indonesia. The discussion took place at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting focused on promoting people-to-people contact, expanding educational linkages, and fostering cooperation in the energy sector. Both parties emphasized the importance of facilities, amenities, and safety for the numerous tourists traveling from Bangladesh to Indonesia.
The discussions also covered reinstating visa-on-arrival facilities for Bangladeshi citizens and launching direct flights between the two countries. The aim is to leverage new opportunities in sectors like trade, investment, energy, tourism, and education to deepen economic and strategic ties.
Furthermore, both sides explored increasing Indonesian investment in Bangladesh and strengthening business relationships between the countries' entrepreneurs. Discussions included expanding trade in ready-made garments, jute, agriculture, palm oil, and halal products.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen multifaceted cooperation and advance the bonds of shared Muslim brotherhood. Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Listyowati and Bangladesh Ambassador to Indonesia Md Abul Hasan Mridha also attended the meeting.
