Dhaka:The date for the upcoming Union Parishad elections will be determined at a meeting of the Election Commission on October 12, as stated by Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sanaullah mentioned that the commission meeting on October 12 will finalize the election date. Following the meeting, details on the timing and the number of phases for the elections will be announced.
Sanaullah clarified that the election schedule will not be centrally announced by the Election Commission. Instead, district election officers will be responsible for announcing the schedule at the local level, while the commission will decide on the election phases.
Discussions with political parties are ongoing, and the commission plans to address all pertinent issues during the upcoming Monday meeting.
Representatives from the European Union Election Observation Mission have met with the Election Commission, offering suggestions and expressing their willingness to collaborate. The Election Commission has welcomed their support.
