Tokyo:The Bangladesh Pavilion at 'Fashion World Tokyo (Autumn) 2026' was officially inaugurated at Tokyo Big Sight in Japan. The pavilion aims to showcase the country's manufacturing capabilities in apparel, home textiles, and leather goods to a global audience.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) has facilitated the participation of 25 Bangladeshi companies in the three-day international exhibition, providing 27 booths. Additionally, five other Bangladeshi firms are participating independently.

The pavilion was inaugurated by Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md. Daud Ali, who cut a ribbon as the chief guest. He toured the stalls, expressing satisfaction with the quality of the products and engaging with the entrepreneurs involved.

Following the inauguration, a seminar titled "Bangladesh: Sourcing Excellence for Apparel, Home Textile and Leather Products" took place at the exhibition hall. This event was organized by the Embassy of Bangladesh in Tokyo and the EPB, with support from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

During the seminar, Ambassador Daud Ali emphasized Bangladesh's role as a reliable sourcing and investment partner for Japanese businesses. He highlighted the country's strong industrial foundation in apparel, textiles, leather and footwear, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, ITES, and agro-processing.

The Ambassador noted Bangladesh's position as the world's second-largest exporter of ready-made garments, generating approximately $39 billion annually. He also pointed out the presence of over 230 LEED-certified green garment factories, which contribute to sustainable manufacturing.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the leather and footwear sector is the second-largest export earner for Bangladesh, bringing in nearly $1.5 billion annually, with a goal to increase exports to $5 billion in the next five years. He expressed hope that an Economic Partnership Agreement would enhance bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Japan.

Yuji Ando, Senior Director of JETRO's Global Strategy Department, highlighted the competitive quality and pricing of Bangladeshi exports, particularly in the sectors of apparel, home textiles, and leather products. He noted that these products meet international standards, making Bangladesh an attractive sourcing destination for Japanese buyers and brands.
