Dhaka:The government has approved the import of 40,000 tonnes of diammonium phosphate (DAP) fertiliser from Morocco's OCP Nutricrops S.A. This decision was made under a government-to-government arrangement with the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, The approval was granted during the 48th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP), which took place at the Cabinet Division in the capital. Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury presided over the meeting.
The Ministry of Agriculture proposed the import through the direct procurement method, with the DAP fertiliser being purchased at a price of $866 per tonne. The total cost for procuring the fertiliser is estimated to be around TK 427.81 crore.
This procurement is intended to maintain an adequate supply of fertiliser for the country's agricultural sector.
