Dhaka:State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj announced that the government aims to transform Bangladesh into a trillion-dollar economy by 2034, with the youth expected to play a pivotal role in this economic transformation.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Hajjaj made this statement during the inaugural ceremony of the Inter-University Moot Court Competition 2026 at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP).

The third UMSAILS-UAP Moot Court Competition was jointly organized by the UAP Department of Law and Human Rights and the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies.

Bobby Hajjaj highlighted the government's focus on high technology, innovation, foreign investment, skilled human resources, and a knowledge-based economy to achieve this ambitious target. He mentioned ongoing discussions with leading global technology companies about investment and cooperation opportunities, urging the youth to prepare themselves in technology, research, professional skills, and leadership.

He emphasized to the students that they are the future of the country, encouraging them to prepare now to take on future responsibilities. He pointed out that academic degrees alone are insufficient, highlighting the importance of practical experience and adaptability for future leadership roles.

Hajjaj also discussed the role of ethics in the legal profession, noting that artificial intelligence and digital technology are rapidly transforming legal research and professional work. While technology can ease workloads, he asserted, it cannot replace human judgment, analysis, integrity, ethics, and responsibility.

Addressing the competition participants, he stated that the primary objective is not winning or losing but striving for excellence and gaining experience.

The event was also addressed by Chairman of the UAP Board of Trustees K M Mujibul Haque and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abu Sayeed Mostaque Ahmed. Teachers and students from law departments of 16 universities participated in the competition.
