Dhaka:Deputy commissioners have been instructed to ensure that LPG and autogas are sold at prices set by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) while maintaining normal supplies in the open market, as stated by Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the government has intensified its monitoring efforts nationwide to enforce the sale of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and autogas at the regulated prices. This initiative comes in response to the volatility in international fuel prices, which has posed challenges to adjusting LPG prices locally.

Dr. Rahman mentioned that there have been complaints regarding the unavailability of LPG at the adjusted prices in certain areas. To address this, the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister conducted an online meeting with the deputy commissioners, providing directives to resolve these issues.

Monitoring activities are being conducted in various districts through mobile courts managed by the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection and local administrations. Dr. Rahman highlighted that previous fines have been imposed, and monitoring has now intensified.

The government is also engaged in discussions with LPG traders to stabilize the market. Meetings have been held between the energy minister and leaders of LPG-related businesses, with traders pledging their cooperation in maintaining market stability.

The government is optimistic that these efforts will alleviate the current challenges in the LPG market. Dr. Rahman urged the media to report any instances of LPG being unavailable at government-fixed prices to ensure public interest is served and appropriate action is taken. He emphasized the essential nature of LPG, noting its critical role in daily life management.
