Zubaida Rahman Advocates for Children’s Rights and Secure Future

Dhaka:Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, Vice President of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation, emphasized the importance of ensuring a safe childhood and a secure future for every child, enabling them to pursue their dreams with enthusiasm.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Dr. Zubaida made these remarks during an event celebrating Children's Rights Day 2026 and the 50th anniversary of the Bangladesh Shishu Academy in the capital. She highlighted the need for appropriate opportunities and a supportive environment to help children develop their potential and talents.

Dr. Zubaida congratulated the officials, employees, and children of the Bangladesh Shishu Academy on its golden jubilee. She recalled the academy's establishment by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman to nurture children's potential and build their future, acknowledging its efforts over the past five decades despite various challenges.

She noted the academy's role in fostering creativity and talent among countless children through activities such as painting, music, dance, recitation, and literary pursuits. She also mentioned former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia's initiatives in expanding children's rights and educational opportunities, including compulsory and free primary education and free education for girls.

Dr. Zubaida urged the Bangladesh Shishu Academy to reach children across the country with new initiatives and modern technology, expressing her hope that it will continue to be a reliable platform for children to develop their dreams and talents.

She encouraged the children to overcome obstacles and flourish, affirming their immense potential. "May every childhood be safe and every child's future be secure - this is our wish," she concluded.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, addressing the programme as the chief guest, was welcomed alongside Dr. Zubaida by approximately 150 children. The event commenced with the national anthem and included a cultural programme performed by children, followed by a visit to an exhibition of children's paintings and a photography gallery.
