Bangladesh Women Defeated by Queensland Fire in Warm-Up Match

Brisbane:Bangladesh Women's team faced a 72-run defeat against Queensland Fire in their only warm-up match in Brisbane ahead of their upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the match was reduced to 36 overs due to rain, with Queensland posting 266-9 after being put in to bat first. Bangladesh was set a revised target of 269 runs but managed to score 196-7 in their allotted 36 overs.

Charli Knott was a standout performer for Queensland, scoring 94 runs off 64 balls, while Grace Harris added 76 from 50 deliveries, contributing to their strong total. Opener Lauren Winfield-Hill also made a significant impact with 48 runs from 37 balls.

For Bangladesh, Habiba Islam Pinki was the leading bowler, taking 4-44 in seven overs. Marufa Akhter took 2-64, though she proved a bit expensive, while Nahida Akter and Ritu Moni claimed one wicket each.

During their chase, Bangladesh lost wickets regularly. Sharmin Akhter Supta was the top scorer with 68 runs from 67 balls. Sobhana Mostary made 49 from 54 balls, and Sharmin Sultana added 28 off 40 balls. Captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti was dismissed for zero after facing three deliveries.

Queensland's Nicola Hancock led their bowling attack with figures of 3-51 from seven overs, while Lily Bassingthwaighte, Filippa Suesee, and Grace Harris each took one wicket.

This warm-up match served as Bangladesh's sole practice game before their ODI series against Australia, which is set to begin in Brisbane on October 9.
