Thakurgaon:President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was recognized as an eminent teacher in Thakurgaon for his significant contributions to the teaching profession. This honor was presented during a special program commemorating World Teachers' Day 2026 at the District Council Auditorium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the President's niece, Dr. Mirza Faiza Tasnim, accepted the award on his behalf. The event was attended by Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rafiqul Huq as the chief guest, with Education Officer Shaheen Akter presiding over the ceremony.
The program began with a colorful rally through the main streets and included a discussion on the importance of World Teachers' Day. Special guests at the event included Additional Superintendent of Police Khodadad Hossain, District Primary Education Officer Mofazzal Hossain, and former Deputy Director of Secondary and Higher Education Md Akhtaruzzaman.
Dr. Mirza Faiza Tasnim expressed her pride in receiving the award on behalf of her uncle, commenting on his dual role as a family leader and national figure. She emphasized the value of the lessons he imparted both professionally and personally.
