He highlighted the connection between the dignity of teachers and the overall image of the state during a discussion at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital, celebrating World Teachers' Day 2026.
According to United News of Bangladesh, The Prime Minister announced several government initiatives aimed at enhancing teachers' financial security and dignity. These include restructuring teacher recruitment and the education system to make teaching a more appealing career choice. He also stressed the importance of modernizing education to adapt to the rapid development of social media and artificial intelligence, ensuring that teachers are equipped to face new challenges.
Rahman outlined plans to ensure all students have access to quality education, regardless of their location, and announced that teachers would be invited to state functions marking significant national days. Furthermore, he underscored the importance of integrating technology into education while maintaining teachers' roles as central to the learning process.
The Prime Minister awarded the 'Guni Teacher Recognition' awards to 102 distinguished teachers for their contributions to education and nation-building. He called for education to focus on character building and ethics, alongside employment-oriented skills. The event was attended by various dignitaries, who spoke on the importance of teachers in shaping the future of society.
