JU Ex-VC Prof Mustahidur Rahman Honored with Posthumous Teacher Award

Dhaka:Former Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University, Professor Dr. Khandaker Mustahidur Rahman, has been awarded the posthumous "Gunijon Teacher Award" by the Ministry of Education in celebration of World Teachers' Day 2026.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the award was accepted by Professor Dr. Tasmina Rahman, his daughter and a professor in the Department of Pharmacy at Jahangirnagar University. The ceremony, featuring Prime Minister Tarique Rahman as the chief guest, took place at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium.

Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr. Md Nurul Islam, expressed profound respect and congratulations to Prof Mustahidur Rahman for receiving this honor posthumously. In his message, he noted that Prof Rahman was a dedicated teacher, visionary university administrator, and eminent educationist whose contributions to knowledge, education, and research have left a lasting impact.

Prof Nurul Islam emphasized that this award serves as a fitting recognition of Prof Mustahidur Rahman's outstanding contributions, highlighting the state's respect and gratitude for the dedication of teachers to education and knowledge-building. He also prayed for the eternal peace of Prof Mustahidur Rahman and extended his deep sympathies to the bereaved family and well-wishers. Prof Nurul Islam expressed hope that the late professor's work and ideals would continue to guide and inspire future generations in the education sector.
