Narail:World Habitat Day 2026 is being celebrated in Narail today, emphasizing the importance of planned and sustainable urbanization to create inclusive and livable cities. This year's theme is "Universal Housing, Sustainable Urbanization."
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the day's events included a discussion meeting held at 11 am in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner. The meeting followed a colorful rally through the town.
The discussion was attended by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Abdul Salam as the chief guest, with Public Works Department Executive Engineer Md Sarwar Hussain presiding over the session.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Ahsan Mahmud Rusel, Narail Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer T.M. Rahsin Kabir, and other government officials were also present.
Speakers at the event highlighted the necessity of planned urbanization to accommodate growing populations while safeguarding the environment and promoting social equity. They also stressed the importance of reducing social disparities and guaranteeing equal access to urban facilities.
