The National 'Gunijon Teacher Recognition' has been expanded this year, with 102 teachers being honored, compared to 14 in previous years. This initiative aims to enhance the social dignity of teachers and recognize their professional contributions as stated by the Ministry of Education.
Award recipients were selected from primary, secondary, college, university, medical, agricultural, engineering, science and technology, and other specialized higher education institutions across the country. The selection process was overseen by a national steering committee, which based its final list on recommendations from search committees formed by the Directorate of Primary Education, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, Directorate of Technical and Madrasa Education, and the University Grants Commission.
World Teachers' Day, observed globally on October 5, honors teachers and emphasizes their vital role in education and society. The day was first recognized in 1994 following a decision at the 26th General Conference of UNESCO in Paris in 1993 to designate October 5 as World Teachers' Day, with countries observing it under UNESCO-approved themes.
