Mahdi Amin Highlights Policies to Tackle Uncertainties at Bay of Bengal Conversation

Dhaka:Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin emphasized that political, geopolitical, and economic uncertainties can be tackled through appropriate policies, planning, and preparedness. He spoke at a discussion titled 'The Inner Forum: Leadership in an Age of Uncertainty' during the Bay of Bengal Conversation 2026 at a city hotel.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Mahdi Amin suggested that Bangladesh and other regional countries could address challenges collectively by fostering regional cooperation and mutual benefits. He underscored the importance of international funding for the Rohingya crisis and the need for Bangladesh to collaborate with global and regional stakeholders to ensure safe, voluntary, and dignified repatriation of the Rohingyas.

He also advocated for building bilateral and multilateral relations based on equality, fairness, and justice, and emphasized enhancing cooperation in education, healthcare, communications, technology, and maritime security. Amin addressed the impact of technological changes, noting potential job losses due to AI and robotics, while highlighting opportunities for new employment through training and modernized curricula.

Furthermore, Amin discussed government plans to counter environmental risks, including planting 25 Crore trees, excavating 20,000 canals and rivers, and constructing the Padma Barrage for water conservation. He mentioned initiatives like Family Cards, Farmers Cards, and Health Cards to improve living standards amid economic uncertainties.

The discussion featured contributions from various international experts and was moderated by Kamal Dev Bhattarai, Editor-in-Chief of The Annapurna Express, Nepal. The Bay of Bengal Conversation, organized by the Centre for Governance Studies (CGS), gathered around 200 speakers and 1,000 participants from over 100 countries, concluding the three-day conference.
