Rangpur:The World Teachers' Day 2026 was celebrated in Rangpur with the theme "Standing with teachers; 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing dignity and shaping our future."
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by the Rangpur District Administration and the District Education Office. It was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in the city, featuring a discussion to mark the occasion.
Dr. Md Moniruzzaman, an Associate Professor in the Department of History and Archaeology at Begum Rokeya University, presented the keynote paper. Deputy Commissioner Israt Jahan, who presided over the event, highlighted the importance of teachers in Rangpur's nearly one thousand educational institutions.
Jahan emphasized the crucial role of teachers and all associated with education in shaping a bright future for students. She noted the trust parents place in teachers to shape their children's futures and urged educators to uphold this trust by encouraging students to embrace values and ethics.
She further advised teachers to promote student participation in sports and cultural activities, emphasizing the importance of developing each student's unique talents. Addressing students, Jahan encouraged those aspiring to study abroad to learn the language of their destination country and to prepare themselves thoroughly through textbooks, ethics, and co-curricular activities.
Government officials, teachers, students, and journalists attended the event, highlighting the community's shared commitment to education.
