Preparatory Meeting Convened in Sherpur for Upcoming Durga Puja

Sherpur:A preparatory meeting was held to ensure the smooth and peaceful celebration of the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja in the district.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was organized by the district administration and took place in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office, presided over by Sherpur Deputy Commissioner Farida Yasmin.

Attendees included Superintendent of Police AKM Zahirul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Shakil Ahmed, and various local political leaders such as former joint convener of Sherpur district BNP Awal Chowdhury, Sadar upazila BNP joint convener Shafiul Alam Chan, and municipal BNP joint convener Rabiul Islam Sajib. Leaders from the district Jubo Dal and the district Puja Udjapan Front were also present, along with Upazila Nirbahi Officers from the district's five upazilas.

The meeting addressed several key issues, including measures to control traffic congestion, ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, curb drug abuse, and provide tight security at puja mandaps.

It was reported that a total of 177 puja mandaps will host Durga Puja celebrations in Sherpur district this year, with 83 in Sherpur Sadar, 40 in Nalitabari, 23 in Nakla, 18 in Jhenaigati, and 13 in Sreebardi upazilas. The five-day festival will begin with Maha Shasthi on October 16 and conclude with Bijoya Dashami on October 21.
