Death Toll from Measles Symptoms Rises in Rangpur Division

Rangpur:The death toll from measles symptoms in the Rangpur division has escalated to 20 this year following the recent death of a three-and-a-half-month-old child at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, officials from the Rangpur Divisional Health Director's office confirmed the information, identifying the infant as Rashed, son of Mizanur Rahman from Nageshwari upazila in Kurigram district.

In the last 24 hours, the Rangpur Divisional Health Director's office reported that 26 patients with measles-rubella symptoms have been admitted to various government hospitals across the division.

Since the beginning of the year to October 3, 3,160 patients presenting measles-rubella symptoms have been admitted to government hospitals in Rangpur division. Of these, 20 patients have succumbed to the illness, while 3,077 have recovered and been discharged. Currently, 63 patients are still receiving medical treatment across the division's hospitals.
