Dhaka:State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku has declared that no negligence in security will be tolerated at puja mandaps during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tuku stressed that any untoward incidents will be met with action against those responsible, following an investigation. He made these comments while addressing a meeting organized by the Dhaka District Administration to discuss preparations for the Sharadiya Durga Puja-2026.
Tuku, who is responsible for overseeing law and order as well as development activities in Dhaka district, emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring the festival is celebrated peacefully and harmoniously. He highlighted the importance of maintaining the country's tradition of communal harmony and urged everyone to contribute responsibly.
Coordination with the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner, and the Inspector General of Police will be crucial, he noted. He also mentioned that intelligence agencies will monitor the situation closely, and law enforcement agencies must enhance their preparations and drills.
The state minister underscored the importance of ensuring women's security at puja mandaps and suggested separate arrangements for managing the movement of women and men where necessary. To address traffic congestion, he announced that traffic police and Ansar members will be deployed around the clock near puja mandaps.
