Dhaka:Government employees are set to receive nearly three months' salary arrears alongside their October salaries under a new pay structure. The amount will vary based on employees' grades, existing basic salaries, revised basic pay, and the effective date of the new structure.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the pay fixation process for government employees will commence tomorrow and is expected to be completed by October 20. The revised salaries will be determined through the iBAS++ system, the government's integrated budget and accounting system.

Employees must log in to the designated portal to provide necessary information, including national identity card details, date of birth, current position and grade, date of joining service, and existing basic salary. They must also verify previous pay fixation records. Those who have received promotions, transfers, time scales, selection grades, or higher grades must provide relevant information and have supporting documents ready.

The arrears will be calculated based on the difference between previous and revised basic salaries, considering the applicable effective date.

The BNP-led government issued a gazette notification on September 19 to implement the new national pay structure after 11 years. The new structure sets the minimum basic salary at Tk 20,000 and the maximum at Tk 1,56,000. Salaries will be fixed using basic pay drawn on June 30, 2026. Employees will receive 40 percent of the difference between previous and revised salaries from July 1 to December 31, 2026, and 70 percent from January 1 to June 30, 2027. The full revised basic salary will be effective from July 1, 2027, with allowances starting January 1, 2028.

The Finance Division has allocated Tk 37,000 crore in the current fiscal year to cover two phases of payments amounting to 70 percent of the basic salary increase. Online training is being provided to officials of government accounts offices to ensure smooth completion of the pay fixation process. This training is conducted through iBAS++ under the Finance Division's Strengthening Public Financial Management Programme to Enable Service Delivery (SPFMS), with participation from various accounts and finance offices.
