Dhaka:President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on people of all faiths and communities in Bangladesh to work together in harmony to create an inclusive, democratic, and prosperous nation.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the President made this appeal during a meeting with a delegation from the Sri Sri Hari-Guruchand Matua Mission Central Committee, led by its President Sri Padmanabha Thakur, at Bangabhaban.

The President emphasized the importance of unity and communal harmony, which have been instrumental in shaping the nation. He highlighted the joint efforts of Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, and Christians during Bangladesh's Liberation War, stating that independence was achieved through their collective unity.

He urged vigilance against any attempts to undermine this unity and reaffirmed the need to protect and strengthen the longstanding social bonds between Hindus and Muslims in the country.

Additionally, the President called for development initiatives targeting the underprivileged Matua community and assured them of the government's full support. He noted that efforts to create divisions and spread negative propaganda had emerged just seven months after the new government took office, which he deemed undesirable.

The President stressed that rebuilding the nation's economy and progression would be challenging, yet the government is committed to achieving these goals through various development plans. He encouraged everyone to safeguard the opportunity to establish a liberal and democratic system in the country.

Expressing optimism, the President hoped for the achievement of national goals under the current government's leadership, involving all communities in the development journey. During the meeting, the Matua delegation invited the President to visit their pilgrimage site, Sreedham Orakandi Thakur Bari, and he agreed to make the visit.

The delegation included Sri Sri Hari-Guruchand Matua Mission Central Committee Executive President and MP Subarna Sikder (Thakur), advisors Ahsan Habib Opu and Somen Kumar Saha, General Secretary Debashish Biswas, and Khulna District Committee President Nityananda Mondal, among other leaders. The President's Military Secretary, Secretary, and Press Secretary were also present at the meeting.
