Lalmonirhat:Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, MP, has announced that various initiatives are being implemented to encourage youth participation in sports and rejuvenate playing fields across the country.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Dulu emphasized that these efforts are reviving previously inactive sports fields, drawing young people back to engage in sporting activities. He made these remarks while briefing journalists after inspecting the Lalmonirhat District Stadium, the primary sports venue in Lalmonirhat, for its development prospects.

The government's pre-election manifesto included a commitment to reinvigorate sports participation, which has led to the launch of the Prime Minister's Gold Cup. The Minister noted that prior to these initiatives, a significant number of young people turned to drugs instead of sports. However, the current government has been proactive in restoring sports activities.

Minister Dulu also highlighted the positive response from the youth in Lalmonirhat, where playing fields are seeing renewed activity. He announced that the Deputy Commissioner's Football Tournament for teenagers is set to be inaugurated on October 10. Additionally, efforts are being made to revive traditional rural sports like Ha-Du-Du.

Efforts are underway to promote popular sports, including football, Ha-Du-Du, and cricket, at various levels. Support is being extended to clubs organizing these sporting events. Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Md Rashedul Haque Prodhan, District Council Administrator AKM Mominul Haque, along with officials and political leaders, were present during the announcement.

After inspecting the venue for the 'Hamar Lalmoni' exhibition event, Minister Dulu distributed grants from the Prime Minister's special fund and the Ministry of Social Welfare to the relevant individuals.
