Amman:The Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister, Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, has stressed the necessity for the elected government to act quickly and effectively to meet the expectations of the people.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Khan highlighted the responsibility of elected representatives to deliver public services and maintain accountability, as they must return to the electorate after five years to seek their mandate once again. He made these remarks while addressing a review meeting on 'Solar Power, Dengue Prevention and Development Programmes' organized by the Local Government Division at the Samobay Bhaban, where he was the chief guest.
Dr. Khan noted that government officials and elected representatives share the common goal of serving the public. He stressed the importance of implementing development activities swiftly while making optimal use of limited resources. He also pointed out that solar power could help address electricity shortages, suggesting the installation of solar panels on public buildings and encouraging rural residents to install them on their homes. He proposed that storing surplus electricity in batteries for nighttime use could reduce reliance on the national grid.
State Minister for Public Administration Md Abdul Bari, speaking as a special guest, underscored the necessity of honesty, transparency, and efficiency in government service delivery and grassroots development projects. He emphasized that integrity and professional competence are prioritized in postings and promotions, urging field-level officials to perform their duties with sincerity and consider their posting areas as their own.
The meeting was attended by Cabinet Secretary Dr. Nasimul Gani, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister A.B.M. Abdus Sattar, and several other high-ranking officials, including secretaries from various government departments. Chiefs of city corporations and other municipal administrators were also present.
