Minister Advocates for Education Beyond Politics at Sports Event

Dinajpur:Minister for Women and Children Affairs, Prof. Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain, emphasized the importance of keeping educational institutions focused on nation-building rather than factional politics. He made these remarks while inaugurating the Rangpur Divisional Sports Competition of the National University at Dinajpur Government College.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof. Zahid Hossain highlighted the need for life-oriented and skill-based education to prepare the younger generation for future challenges. He advocated for education that extends beyond academic learning, encouraging students to engage in sports, technology, language learning, and employment-oriented training.

Speaking at the event, the minister underscored the importance of a joyful learning environment, stating that young people should have the opportunity to pursue sports as a profession. He also discussed the 'Learning with Happiness' programme, which promotes participation in cultural and sporting activities alongside academics.

State Minister for Youth and Sports, Aminul Haque, also addressed the gathering, detailing the government's long-term initiatives in the sports sector. He announced plans to establish a Sports Village in every district and stadiums at the upazila level, along with sports allowances to retain talented athletes.

Prof. Dr. A S M Amanullah, Vice-Chancellor of the National University, spoke about the university's efforts to update its courses and curricula to better serve students and the government. He announced the establishment of a regional campus and emphasized the importance of students' physical and mental well-being.

The sports competition, which is part of the 'Learning with Happiness' programme, features 1,154 student-athletes competing in 72 events. The event has created a festive atmosphere, bringing together students, teachers, and sports enthusiasts.
