Rajshahi:A discussion meeting took place at the Shilpakala Academy auditorium in Rajshahi to commemorate the 47th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Olama Dal. The event was organized by the Rajshahi Metropolitan and District branches of the Olama Dal.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting concluded with prayers and munajat seeking forgiveness for the departed souls of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Deshnetri late Begum Khaleda Zia. Prayers were also offered for the good health of the current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and for the welfare of the country and nation.
Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, addressed the meeting as the chief guest, while Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation and General Secretary of Mahanagar BNP, spoke as a special guest. Maulana Taj Uddin Khan, convener of Rajshahi District Olama Dal, presided over the meeting, and Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP, was the chief speaker.
Distinguished attendees included Professor Nazrul Islam Mondal, MP, former mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, President of Rajshahi Mahanagar BNP Mamun Or Rashid, and Administrator of Rajshahi Zila Parishad Advocate Ershad Ali Isha. Other speakers were Mahanagar BNP Senior Vice-President Nazrul Huda and Mahanagar Jubodal Convener Shariful Islam Jony.
The event opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran and performances of Islamic songs. Maulana Md. Taj Uddin Khan delivered the welcome address, while Kazi Md. Nurul Alam, member secretary of Rajshahi District Olama Dal, gave the anniversary speech. Leaders from different upazilas of Rajshahi district also attended the meeting.
