Rangpur:A Vishnu idol weighing 15.1 kg and four black stone fragments weighing 6.8 kg were recovered by the Special Response Battalion (SRB) in the South Guptapara area during a recent operation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operation was carried out on the second floor of a four-storey building owned by AKM Humayun Kabir. The SRB-13 Senior Assistant Director (Media), Biplob Kumar Goswami, confirmed the details of the recovery.
During the operation, three individuals connected to an idol smuggling ring were arrested. The suspects have been identified as Mizan, 42, from Guptapara, Mozaffar Hossain, 37, from Nayabazar village under Haragach Police Station, and Majedul Islam, 29, from Sonatan Siddik Bazar village under Kaunia Police Station.
The SRB has filed a case regarding this incident, and both the recovered items and the arrested individuals have been handed over to the relevant police stations for further legal proceedings.
