Dhaka:Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator M Abdus Salam emphasized the role of cultural activities, sports, and social engagement in nurturing responsible citizens.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, he made these remarks as the chief guest at a children's entertainment programme jointly organized by the DSCC and the cultural organization 'Amra Kuri' at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy to mark World Children's Day 2026.
Salam stressed that the nation's future lies with its children, and families and society must contribute to fostering moral and humanitarian values. Despite significant improvements in the country's education rate, he noted a growing trend of indiscipline and intolerance, indicating a need for serious attention.
He pointed out the necessity of developing humanitarian values in children alongside scientific and technological advancements. He urged guardians to monitor children's technology use, as excessive use of mobile phones and digital devices can negatively impact their physical and mental development.
Salam also underscored the benefits of creative and recreational activities, such as dance, music, art, and sports, in promoting healthy development and preventing engagement in drugs and harmful activities.
