Dhaka:The fifth edition of the 'Bay of Bengal Conversation (BOBC) 2026' will commence at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel tomorrow. This event is organized by the Centre for Governance Studies (CGS) and will run for three days.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the conference will host more than 200 speakers from over 100 countries, along with over 300 delegates and more than 1,000 participants, as announced by CGS President Zillur Rahman.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to inaugurate the conference, which has become an important platform for regional diplomacy and geopolitical dialogue in South Asia. The event will bring together a wide range of attendees, including former and current heads of state, ministers, diplomats, military experts, university professors, researchers, business leaders, investors, journalists, human rights activists, technology specialists, and representatives from international development organizations.
Zillur Rahman highlighted five key issues for this year's conference geopolitics, security, trust, climate change, spirituality, and humanity. The discussions aim to explore practical solutions to the challenges and opportunities faced by the region, which serves as a meeting point for South and Southeast Asia.
Additionally, Zillur Rahman mentioned that CGS has expanded its operations to the United States and has plans to extend its presence to Brussels and Dubai. CGS Executive Director Parvez Karim Abbasi noted that the conference has grown over the years and continues to address challenging and sensitive topics on the international stage. This year's discussions will also focus on global geopolitical uncertainties, democratic governance in Bangladesh, and sustainable development.
