Rangpur:The Special Response Battalion (SRB)-13 has arrested three men in possession of 21.9 kg of touchstones, including a 15.1 kg Vishnu statue and four black stone fragments weighing 6.8 kg, in the South Guptapara area of Rangpur city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the items were seized during an operation conducted by SRB-13 last night, as confirmed by an SRB-13 press release this afternoon.
Acting on a tip-off, an operational team from SRB-13 carried out a raid in South Guptapara, leading to the discovery of the Vishnu statue and stone fragments. The operation resulted in the arrest of three men from a flat at 7:50 pm on Wednesday.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Mizan, 42, from Guptapara in Rangpur city, Md Mozaffar Hossain, 37, from Nayabazar village under Haragachh police station, and Md Majedul Islam, 29, from Siddik Bazar village under Kawnia police station in Rangpur.
After filing a case, the elite force handed over the seized statue, stones, and the three detainees to Rangpur Kotwali police station, as stated in the press release.
