Gaibandha:State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives, Mir Shahe Alam, emphasized the pivotal role of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in guiding the country through periods of crisis, attributing the party's leadership to Bangladesh's regained direction.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Shahe Alam credited Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, who assumed leadership after the 1975 crisis, with initiating Bangladesh's forward movement with the support of the people and armed forces. This leadership period saw significant economic growth, particularly in agriculture.
The state minister, addressing local journalists at the Circuit House, stated that the Zia family again provided development leadership in the 1990s when the country faced challenges. However, he alleged that various conspiracies had repeatedly undermined BNP's initiatives.
Shahe Alam also mentioned that the BNP, having come to power seven months ago, is committed to development efforts, though not promising unattainable outcomes. Regarding upcoming local government elections, he assured BNP's cooperation to ensure fair and transparent processes.
He criticized past administrations for alleged misappropriation under the guise of mega projects and expressed plans to enhance livability across Gaibandha and other regions. He highlighted the interconnected benefits of development between Bogura and Gaibandha.
Prominent BNP figures, including Professor Aminul Islam and Dr. Moinul Hasan Sadik, attended the meeting. The minister later engaged with party members and local officials, receiving a warm reception and a guard of honor.
