Chandpur:A special operation conducted by district police in Chandpur has resulted in the detention of 370 individuals across eight upazilas, focusing on juvenile delinquency and teen gang activities.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the operation commenced on Sunday evening and targeted key areas known for criminal activity. It was conducted under the guidance of the Chittagong Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, with involvement from all local police stations and the Detective Branch (DB).
Chandpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Mizanur Rahman and Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Nadia Noor reported that the investigation revealed connections to drug abuse and online gambling among several detainees. Legal measures, including the filing of formal charges and possible remand, are expected against those proven to be involved in criminal activities.
ASP Nadia Noor noted that not every detainee was engaged in criminal acts. SP Mizanur Rahman highlighted the importance of family oversight in curbing youth crime, pointing out the role of insufficient parental supervision, crime-prone environments, and unregulated online exposure as significant contributing factors.
He assured that the police would continue district-wide operations to maintain public safety and social order.
