Arau:The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, met with Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil at the Balai Mengadap Biru, Istana Arau. The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah were also present.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the meeting served as a platform to discuss important issues in the communications sector, emphasizing the importance of accurate, effective, and accessible public information.
The discussions highlighted the significance of advancements in communications and digital connectivity in fostering closer community ties, expanding access to information, and creating educational and economic opportunities, as well as promoting social development in Perlis.
Digital literacy was noted as increasingly vital for ensuring that communities, especially the younger generation, can engage with technology in a positive and responsible manner. The meeting also focused on strengthening Perlis' communications ecosystem to help residents benefit from technological progress and better access to information.
The Perlis Smart City Plan 2030 was also a subject of discussion, with hopes expressed for support from the federal government and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to achieve its successful implementation.
