Selangor:Incentives for Selangor athletes who secured medals at the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and Para Malaysia Games (Para SUKMA) are set to be distributed as early as November.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurship Exco Mohd Najwan Halimi announced that approximately RM7 million has been allocated for these incentives. This allocation extends to silver and bronze medalists, as well as sports associations and management teams. A ceremony is planned to honor Selangor athletes and contingents for their remarkable achievement of becoming double champions at the biennial sports event.

The Selangor contingent made history by winning the 2026 SUKMA with a total of 101 gold, 73 silver, and 71 bronze medals. The Para SUKMA contingent furthered this success with a collection of 93 gold, 55 silver, and 52 bronze medals. Gold medalists in individual or small group events will receive RM15,000, while groups of four to ten people will receive RM10,000, and team events with ten or more athletes will receive RM7,000.

Mohd Najwan emphasized that the incentives are awarded without discrimination to commend all athletes who brought honor to the state. The incentive distribution is also intended to recognize the contributions of management teams. The event may be combined with the Selangor State Sports Awards ceremony to fully appreciate the athletes' achievements.

In another matter, Mohd Najwan, who also serves as the Selangor Disaster Management Exco, mentioned that the investigation report on the gas pipeline fire incident in Putra Heights has been completed. The announcement of the findings is pending administrative procedures and will be made by the Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
