Dhaka:Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has called on Community Bank PLC to allocate its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to support the families of police and other disciplined-force personnel who have lost their lives or suffered permanent disabilities while on duty.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister emphasized that CSR funds should not be used for political purposes or to gain favor. He made these remarks during the bank's seventh anniversary event at Hotel InterContinental Dhaka, where he served as the chief guest.
Ahmed stressed the importance of supporting the families of police and disciplined-force members who have died or become disabled in service, highlighting it as a genuine social and state responsibility. He specifically requested support from the bank's CSR fund for the family of a police officer recently killed in Aminbazar, Savar, and for the family of a disciplined force officer killed in Jungle Salimpur, Chattogram, during the interim government period.
The minister also urged Community Bank to expand its services beyond police personnel, building confidence among ordinary depositors and businesses. He advised the bank to focus on providing quality banking services and simplifying loan processing and collateral procedures for trustworthy customers.
The anniversary programme was chaired by Community Bank Chairman and Inspector General of Police Md. Ali Hossain Fakir, with Managing Director Mohammed Emtiaz Uddin delivering the welcome address. As part of the celebrations, the minister inaugurated the bank's 'Bike Loan' and 'Dream Home' home-loan schemes for police personnel.
