Dhaka:Fuel supply in Bangladesh is gradually returning to normal, according to Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood. He announced that the supply situation had stabilized, with fuel arriving in the country as expected.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister attributed recent disruptions to temporary difficulties in procuring fuel from Middle Eastern countries due to the Iran-Israel conflict. These challenges necessitated finding alternative sources for fuel supply.
Additionally, a fire incident at a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) contributed to delays in fuel delivery. Despite these complications, the minister confirmed that fuel is now being brought into the country properly, and supply schedules have been established.
The minister emphasized that the government did not deliberately create the situation and had explored alternative sources to alleviate public suffering, even procuring gas at higher prices. The swift resolution of the crisis was attributed to the personal initiative of the prime minister and the concerted efforts of concerned officials. The government remains committed to ensuring that the public does not face further hardships.
