Dhaka:The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has instructed former Dhaka Metropolitan Police Joint Commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarkar to submit a wealth statement. This directive follows the discovery of assets that appear to be disproportionate to his known income sources.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ACC's decision was announced by Secretary Md. Saidur Rahman Khan during a routine media briefing at the commission's headquarters.
The inquiry revealed that Biplab Kumar Sarkar allegedly possessed illegal assets valued at Taka 1,03,62,497. These assets, registered both in his name and the names of others, do not align with his documented sources of income.
As a result, the inquiry officer has recommended the issuance of a notice under Section 26(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, requiring Sarkar to provide a detailed wealth statement. The commission has approved this recommendation.
