Dhaka:The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic Division has filed 2,449 cases against traffic law violators during separate drives conducted across various areas of the capital on Saturday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Ramna traffic division was responsible for 66 cases, involving four buses, one truck, nine CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 16 motorcycles. In the Lalbagh division, 100 cases were filed, involving three buses, four trucks, one covered van, five CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 74 motorcycles.
The Motijheel traffic division accounted for 285 cases, with violations including 13 buses, one truck, 23 covered vans, 59 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 153 motorcycles. Meanwhile, the Wari division filed 305 cases, dealing with 12 buses, 18 trucks, 28 covered vans, 47 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 120 motorcycles.
In the Tejgaon division, 129 cases were filed, involving six buses, one truck, eight covered vans, 21 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 45 motorcycles. The Mirpur division reported 476 cases, including 18 buses, 27 trucks, 52 covered vans, 53 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 188 motorcycles.
The Uttara traffic division registered the highest number of cases at 670, with violations comprising 62 buses, 12 trucks, 14 covered vans, 96 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 260 motorcycles. The Gulshan division filed 418 cases, dealing with 71 buses, six trucks, 14 covered vans, 50 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 119 motorcycles.
During the operations, the DMP stated that a total of 491 vehicles were sent to dumping stations while 382 vehicles were towed away. The ongoing traffic enforcement drives aim to maintain traffic discipline in Dhaka metropolitan areas.
