Dhaka:Countrywide gas supply reached 2,619 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) as of 200 PM on Sunday, with significant support from imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), according to daily operational data from Petrobangla.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the total volume supplied to the national grid included 1,603 MMCFD from domestic gas fields, while Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) contributed 1,016 MMCFD to help address the energy deficit.
The 1,016 MMCFD RLNG contribution reflects near-peak operational capacity of the country's two Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs) located off Moheshkhali in Cox's Bazar. These units, operated by Excelerate Energy and Summit Group, have a combined maximum re-gasification capability of around 1,100 MMCFD.
Despite maintaining RLNG supply above the 1,000 MMCFD mark, the current total output of 2,619 MMCFD still falls significantly short of the nation's total estimated demand, which ranges between 3,800 MMCFD and 4,000 MMCFD. This results in an ongoing daily deficit of approximately 1,200 to 1,400 MMCFD across key sectors.
