Khulna:Dengue infections have surged in the Khulna division, with 329 new patients admitted to hospitals within a 24-hour period from Saturday 8 am to Sunday 8 am, as reported by the health department.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, of the newly admitted dengue patients, 288 were admitted to government hospitals while 41 sought treatment in private hospitals. The division also reported one more dengue-related death during this period, bringing the total number of deaths from the disease this year to 45.
Since the beginning of the year, Khulna division has recorded a total of 12,632 dengue cases. Out of these, 11,146 patients have successfully recovered and returned home. Currently, 1,140 patients are still receiving treatment across various hospitals, and 301 others have been referred to different locations for improved care.
Khulna district has been particularly affected, reporting the highest number of cases in the division. To date, 4,766 patients have been identified in the district, with 2,598 cases diagnosed at Khulna Medical College Hospital.
