Faridpur:Police have apprehended four individuals suspected of being part of a theft gang involved in stealing valuables from a Kali temple in Faridpur district town.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the arrests took place in various parts of the Faridpur district, specifically in Alfadanga and Boalmari upazilas. The police operation was conducted following a tip-off, as stated by Shahrier Mohammad Miazi, the superintendent of Faridpur Police, during a press briefing.
The stolen items included a 20-kg touchstone idol of the Hindu goddess Kali, five bhoris of gold ornaments, 30 bhoris of silver ornaments, and six brass idols, collectively valued at approximately Tk 1 crore. These were recovered after the suspects were interrogated.
The theft occurred on the night of September 19, when a group of thieves broke into the temple, located near Faridpur Sadar Hospital. The identities of those arrested have not been disclosed.
