Dhaka:According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh repaid $698.92 million in foreign loans in the first two months of the current fiscal year (FY27).
Out of this total repayment, $516.04 million was settled as the principal amount, while $182.88 million was paid as interest.
In the same period, Bangladesh received $294.56 million in foreign loans and grants. The Economic Relations Division (ERD) provided data covering both the foreign loans and grants received and the repayments made on previously contracted external loans.
For comparison, in July-August of the previous fiscal year (FY26), Bangladesh received $750 million in foreign assistance. Additionally, the country secured commitments for $240.39 million in foreign assistance during July-August of FY27.
