Dhaka:A court has ordered the incarceration of six additional individuals in connection with the looting, vandalizing, and demolishing of the Radda MCH-FP Centre located in Mirpur-1.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accused, identified as Shahadat Hossain, Kazi Mokbul Hossain, Shah Alam, Atikur Rahman, Qamrul Islam, and Shakil, were presented before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter. The police requested that they remain in custody until the investigation is complete.
Previously, on September 26, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Siddique Azad had sent four other accused, Md Sohel, Md Jewel, Md Jihad Hasan, and Md Rabbi, to jail related to the same case.
Case documents reveal that on September 25, a group armed with hammers, sticks, and locally made weapons forcibly entered the centre around midnight. They used an excavator to demolish a room on the eastern side of the centre and vandalized another room designated for family planning services, damaging its furniture. The attackers further caused damage to the doors and windows of the building housing ultrasonography, vaccination, and laboratory rooms.
The culprits looted various medicines, two ultrasonography machines, a generator, two computers, two printers, three refrigerators, three air conditioners, and three steel cupboards from the centre.
Dr. Nasrin Akhter, Executive Director of the Radda MCH-FP Centre, filed a case with Shah Ali Police Station against Mohammad Hanif Mia and between 200 to 250 unidentified individuals.
