Dhaka:A court in Dhaka has ordered the detention of 27 individuals in connection with a case involving the chanting of 'Joy Bangla' slogans and causing unrest at the central office of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSad) during a police operation.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam issued the jail order on Sunday following a petition by the case's investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Nazmul Islam of Paltan Model Police Station.
The accused include Didarul Alam Tuhin, Iman Ahmed Emon, Molla Md Shahjahan Siraj, and others, totaling 27 individuals. The court has scheduled a hearing on their bail petitions for Monday.
Police reported that over 200 people were detained during the raid at JaSad's headquarters in Dhaka's Gulistan area around 4pm on Saturday. After a review process, 27 individuals were formally arrested under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and presented in court.
The investigating officer stated that the individuals could not satisfactorily explain their presence at the site during questioning. Police suspected that they might have been involved in a cognisable offense and sought their detention for further investigation.
