Barishal:A Jubo Dal leader, GM Monir Hossain, passed away after suddenly falling ill during an anti-terrorism rally in Barishal on Tuesday. Hossain, who was the joint general secretary of the Barishal Metropolitan Jubo Dal unit, collapsed while participating in the rally organized by the district and metropolitan units to protest against terrorism.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the incident occurred around 12:30 pm when the rally was moving through the Katpatti area. Monir Hossain fell ill and collapsed on the street. He was immediately taken to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Advocate Hafiz Ahmed Bablu, the organizing secretary of the District Jubo Dal, indicated that Monir's death might have been caused by cardiac arrest. Ziauddin Sikdar, member secretary of the Metropolitan unit BNP, expressed sorrow, describing Monir as an active Jubo Dal activist.
In the wake of his sudden demise, several BNP and Jubo Dal leaders, including Barishal Sadar MP Mujibor Rahman Sarwar, Barishal City Corporation Administrator Bilkis Akter Jahan Shirin, and District Council Administrator Akon Kuddusur Rahman, extended their condolences.
