Dhaka: The government has implemented a revision of retail prices for diesel, octane, petrol, and kerosene, with the updated rates effective from Monday, September 21. This adjustment marks a significant shift in the pricing of these crucial fuels. According to United News of Bangladesh, a notification from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division was issued on Sunday to announce the new prices. Diesel will now be available at Tk 135 per litre, octane at Tk 165, petrol at Tk 160, and kerosene at Tk 155. Prior to this change, the prices stood at Tk 115 per litre for diesel, Tk 145 for octane, Tk 140 for petrol, and Tk 135 for kerosene. These revised prices supersede those established by a notification issued on August 31, 2026. The Energy and Mineral Resources Division confirmed that the updated prices have received approval from the competent authority, and will be enforced starting September 21. An Annexure-A attached to the notification provides a detailed price structure. Additionally, the ministry not ed that for distances extending beyond the initial 40 kilometres from a depot, the road transport charges for transporting petroleum products via tank lorries will follow the rates set by a prior notification dated September 26, 2023. This latest revision is part of the government's ongoing adjustments to domestic fuel prices as part of its pricing framework.
