Khulna: Police recovered the body of a young man from a hotel room in the city early Monday. The deceased was identified as Sohel Rana, alias Babu, son of Lokman Fakir of Harintana Auto-stand Road in the Labanchara Police Station area. Police recovered the body at around 4:30 am from Room No. 10 on the second floor of Kapotaksha Residential Hotel on Khanjahan Ali Road under Sadar Police Station. Police detained a woman named Fatema in connection with the incident.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Lokman Hossain Ripon, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station, stated that Babu and Fatema checked into the hotel around 7 pm on Saturday, identifying themselves as husband and wife. The OC revealed that Babu had a wife living in Dhaka, with whom he had no contact, and he had been in a long-term relationship with Fatema, who had allegedly been pressuring him to marry her.
The officer-in-charge further mentioned that Fatema initially confessed to strangling Babu with a scarf during an argument on Sunday night. The OC added that the body would be handed over to the family after completing due procedures.
