Dhaka: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam on Sunday signed the condolence book at the Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka following the recent devastating flash floods in the northern part of Nepal. The State Minister expressed her deepest condolences and empathy towards the people of Nepal, particularly for those who lost their family members in the tragic natural disaster.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the State Minister expressed concern over eminent threats for developing countries in the face of climate-induced disasters. She highlighted the increasing vulnerability of such nations to natural calamities and the urgent need for collaborative efforts to address these challenges.
During her visit, the State Minister also discussed bilateral issues and matters related to the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) with the Ambassador of Nepal. The discussions aimed at strengthening the ties between the two countries and enhancing regional cooperation to collectively tackle climate-related and other issues impacting the region.
