Chattogram: Two people lost their lives when a train collided with an auto-rickshaw at the East Kathgarh BOC intersection level crossing in Satkania upazila of Chattogram district.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the victims were identified as Abu Taher, 50, from Maingapara area under Kaliaish Union, and Abdus Shukkur, 40, the auto-rickshaw driver from Dharmapur Union. The tragic incident occurred around noon when a Dhaka-bound train from Cox's Bazar struck the auto-rickshaw as it was crossing the level crossing. This collision resulted in one fatality at the scene and left another individual injured.
Sujon Kanti Dey, Officer-in-Charge of Chattogram Railway Police Station, reported that the injured person was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctors. Following the accident, local residents blocked the railway tracks, causing a disruption in train services on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar route.
Upon receiving information, police and railway officials promptly arrived at the scene to manage and control the situation.
