Khulna: Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju emphasized the need to integrate marginalized communities into the mainstream to transform Khulna metropolitan city into a safe and livable environment for all residents. Manju made these remarks while addressing an event at the CSS Ava Centre in the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by World Vision Bangladesh under its Khulna City Area Development Programme-1 and 2. The programme celebrated the declaration of wards free from child labour, school dropouts, and child marriage, along with the success of various child protection activities. Manju acknowledged World Vision's efforts in collaborating with KCC for the welfare and protection of children and vulnerable communities.
Manju revealed that a list of 21 playgrounds and small futsal facilities has been submitted for development, with work on these projects set to commence soon. He expressed optimism that the completion of these projects would significantly reduce mobile phone addiction among children and drug addiction among adolescents.
He extended his gratitude to all organizations and individuals participating in the initiative and encouraged collective efforts to expand the programme to other areas. The event was presided over by Suravi Biswas, Area Development Programme Officer of World Vision Bangladesh.
The programme was attended by several notable figures, including KCC Chief Health Officer Dr. Sharif Shammiul Islam, Principal of Asia Technical Training Centre-Khulna Md Saiful Islam, CSS Director (Education) David Thomas Gomes, Thana Primary Education Officer Shahnaz Begum, Assistant Director of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments Shahinur Rahman, and SI Shahanara Khatun Shanu of the Victim Support Centre.
