The acc today conducted an enforcement drive at the national institute of cardiovascular diseases (nicvd) and hospital following allegations of selling heart rings at prices higher than the government-fixed rates:ixed rates, collecting additional money from patients and other irregularities. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Public Relations Department Assistant Director Md Tanzir Ahmed disclosed the information to the media.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, allegations have been received that the hospital is selling coronary stents at prices higher than the new rates fixed by the Drug Administration (DA), without implementing the revised prices. There are also allegations of collecting additional money from the patients and causing various irregularities and harassment in providing services.
Against this backdrop, an ACC enforcement team from the commission's head office conducted the drive. During the operation, the enforcement team randomly collected transaction records and relevant documents concerning patients who had recently undergone coronary stent implantation, in order to examine whether the transactions were carried out in accordance with the newly fixed prices.
The team also collected information on whether patients admitted to the hospital with coronary stents had faced any irregularities or harassment while receiving services. After reviewing and analyzing the information obtained during the drive and the documents collected, the enforcement team will submit a comprehensive report to the commission respectively.
