Bandarban: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today conducted a surprise operation at the Bandarban District Public Health Engineering Department (DPHE) following allegations of corruption, irregularities, substandard work, and embezzlement of public funds in various development projects.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a special enforcement team of the ACC carried out the operation in the afternoon and examined records related to projects implemented by the Bandarban District DPHE during the 2025-26 fiscal year. During the raid, ACC officials scrutinised project files, tender documents, muster rolls, and other relevant office records to verify the allegations.
The team later visited Bakichhara Para in Kuhalong Union under Bandarban Sadar Upazila, where it inspected several projects implemented by the DPHE and assessed the quality of work at the sites. ACC Assistant Director Abdul Al Noman stated that the commission had received allegations that projects involving the supply of safe drinking water, installation of tube wells, rainwater harvesting, and sanitation facilities in different parts of Bandarban had not been properly implemented.
He mentioned there were also allegations of substandard work in some projects and that funds had allegedly been embezzled without completing the work. "The enforcement team conducted the operation based on these allegations," he said. Noman further stated that the ACC would inspect and scrutinise DPHE projects in different upazilas of Bandarban in phases.
ACC Deputy Assistant Director Rakib Uddin Mizan, Assistant Director Nachiketa Chakraborty, Bandarban District DPHE Executive Engineer Anupam De, officials and employees of the concerned offices, and media personnel were present during the operation.
